Important update
The current article which was published earlier regarding a special trading session that was scheduled for the same day has been canceled. So, the following has been updated below:
On January 20, 2024 (Saturday), Indian markets will be open for full trading as per regular session time starting from 9:00 am to 3:30 pm. The currency and commodity markets will be closed, and only the equity and derivative trading segments will be open for trade.
Additional points to be noted down regarding full trading session with NSE and BSE
Kindly take note of the following implications of these changes:
- Equity and FNO will both have regular trading hours on this day, which run from 9:00 AM to 3:30 PM.
- Contracts that were set to expire on Monday, January 22, 2024 (BANKEX and MIDCAP NIFTY) will instead expire on Saturday, January 20, 2024.
- The exchanges previously suggested move to the DR location will not happen.
- On Saturday, January 20, 2024, equities acquired on Friday, January 19, 2024, will not be visible in portfolios due to a Settlement Holiday. The only day they will appear in your holdings is Tuesday, January 23, 2024.
- Buying MTF will be restricted on Saturday, January 20, 2024. Current MTF positions can be sold by users.
- Withdrawals of funds won’t be processed until Tuesday, January 23, 2024
On Monday, January 22, 2024, at MCX, commodity trading will start in the second session and run from 04:45 pm to 11:55 pm.
On Monday, January 22, 2024, the NSE and BSE stock exchanges will be closed due to a holiday designated by the Negotiable Instrument Act.
